Keane [Perfect Symmetry]

Keane’s third studio album “Perfect Symmetry”[released October 14, 2008] is invigorating and refreshing—I would compare it to Altoids and ice water. A total departure from the piano-driven-pop sound of their first & second album this record is a complete rebirth of their sound. The production reflects a nice mix of pastel rock, neon electronica , purple pianos and sexy synthesizers—with a few sassy sound effects thrown in for fun. Tom Chaplin, the lead singer, has a soothingly reflective voice that I enjoy. There are a few standout tracks: “Again & Again”, “Pretend That You’re Alone”, “Love Is The End”, & “Spiraling.” If I were to choose a song that most reflects my outlook on life right now it would be “Love Is The End”, it is a simple ballad with poignant lyrics (that really spoke to me last night). These guys definitely took their sound in a totally different direction and their GPS is on point! This album is the total package, literally, the album art is crazy. They worked with Korean artist Oswan Gwon, who used a innovative process to create the fantastic art featured in the Perfect Symmetry booklet. He took about 3000 pictures of each member, made a sculpture of each them and attached fragments of the pictures to recreate a life size version of each band mate—creative isn’t really the word. I like this record because it sounds like it was prepared with care. Keane kudos.

currently listening to: Keane - Perfect Symmetry...

I dug Keane's first album! I wasn't a huge fan of their sophomore release.
Perfect Symmetry's album art & the video for the first single intrigued me...
I have the album at home waiting on me but I haven't heard any of it yet.
I think I'm going to like it though...
I'll let you know how it goes.
