My birthday weekend was spectacular. Had a great surprise party put together by my roommate. Some of my best buds were in the building. We played a series of inappropriate games and enjoyed each others company. I even smashed my face in the cake for tehe's and giggles. Friday we went to dinner at Marlows Tavern for dinner, it wasn't a birthday dinner, it was dinner and it just happened to be my birthday. I sipped Woodchuck Cider and enjoy myself. Special shout out to everyone who came to both of events. Saturday I had sushi, saw District 9 & then I sat in Subway at Atlantic Station and had iced tea and chewed the fat with some friends. Later that night I got laid (2nd time in 3 days, I got laid Wednesday too, FTW). Sunday I went to a local coffee spot and made gallons of creative kool-aid with one of my new writing partners. We're working on this sci-fi project, it was crazy. Finally, to top it all off. I had dinner at Gordan Biersch with some people from Deeper Love and I had a blast. We shut the place down. I had to write about this because it's so rare that I have a weekend this relaxed and entertaining.
I rarely ever blog about my life but I'm killing time so why not!? I'm at work, I'll be here until late (9:00 p.m.). I wrote and directed a little mini production. We're basically doing three shows tonight and three shows next week. I don't really wanna go. I'm more of a put everything in motion and let it happen kinda guy. Ah-well. Anywho, all is well. I'm working hard on the [DEAR DAD,] (the video project) and the internship is going well. Work is great. I'm getting a raise soon, moving from a centralized office to a two office suite w/ my homie/co-worker/& friend Dominique, AND in July I'll be a trained HIV Counselor. Oh I also shot my first photoshoot with an up&coming artist BOOCHman. He's super cool, talented, and it was great working with him. I'll upload some of the best pics soon. I also shot promotional video with him so I'll post that as well...Anywho, I'm about to head out. Bye people. p.s. I'm currently ****riding Richard Hamilton (artist) see this. ...this article crushed me this morning. Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood. [Coretta Scott King]
Everybody's journey is individual. If you fall in love with a boy, you fall in love with a boy. The fact that many Americans consider it a disease says more about them than it does about homosexuality. [James Baldwin]
Greetings people. I'm a little swamped. I'm getting things done though. I should be back to regular posting by Thursday. Don't forget about me in the next fews days. peace and love.
In order to discover true innovation you have to look. This blog was founded on that principle alone. I respect energy, passion, ingenuity and an unbridled raw hunger to express oneself . The birthing process is essential, the conception is so important to me. I like to know that an artist didn't just pay a bunch of people to come up with something. Rather the artist conceptualized their vision and fashioned it in a way that fulfills their artistic intent. Sadly most of the most successful acts are puppets. Because in order to make it in the music business, you have to sell and on a grand scale--- people are stupid, so music is thus reduced to simple catchy hooks and songs about nothing. There's a difference between having a great team of people behind you and having a great team of people who make you who you are. With that in mind, I'd like to encourage everyone to look. LOOK around you! Don't take the delightful dollops of bullshit we hear on the radio as the full spectrum. There's so much out there.
[do they sell stereos without radios, if so please email me where so I can purchase one to ensure that when I'm in my room I don't accidentally tune in even if just for a millisecond]
I connect more with musicians who above all else are artist--meaning, regardless of the voice or instrument their music and work expresses something truly meaningful. I respect that. Beyond the albums sales, number of hit records, Grammys, and endorsements there's the music---that is more important than any of the other bull. Popularity and radio play mean absolutely nothing to me because in the grand scheme people don't know what they really want---they want what people tell them to want. So a string of top ten hits doesn't mean your music is amazing or that you're changing the fabric of our culture with your revolutionary new dance, it means you've got a great team behind you, producers, writers, etc. You buy their tracks, and lyrics, throw in some of your own flavor and run with it. It's a big business transaction and selling is the art not the music. Don't get me wrong, everybody has bills and desires so I realize proper compensation is very important. It's just that these days it seems like it's more about the money and less about the music. Or maybe it's just me. Either way, now that I've completed that thought I'm off to bed.

I can actually call my self busy this week and I like it. If you're a chaseologist (a forward thinking free spirit who just happens to read chaseology.com) there is a lot to look forward to. Not only am I interview hip-hop phenom Last Offence this week [please submit your questions!] but I'm also sitting down with Atlanta's DJ Dibiase very soon. So definitely look out for those next week. I just saw the extended footage of Britney Spear's upcoming tour and I'm pretty salty that I can't afford to go. Britney slays like Buffy. Hmmm what else....OH! This is soooo incredible, The Mentalist (an all female ensemble out of london) performs MGMT's - Kids using their iPHONES! Crazy right. Anywhoot...I'm working, I'm poor, but I'm loving every single moment of it.
- I'm working on a couple of feature interviews with some up&coming artists so look out for that in the coming weeks.
- I'm finally rid of my Blackberry Pearl and I've ascended to a new level of RIM-wonder. I have the Blackberry Curve 8900 from T-Mobile. Words can't express. The resolution, features, the sleek look. It's sinful.
- I planned on taking my feline friend (Brody Kanye Gnarls Barkley) to live with is grandmother. A few random acts of god prevented it from happening for a couple days. Then as I was trying to wrangle him into the cage and he went ballistic. We couldn't get him. He ran under the bed and hid. So I figure I'll continue to try. I figure he'll slip up sooner or later.
- Work is copacetic. My projects are coming together. Friday I had to go to Athens,GA for a Suicide Prevention Conference. My boss presented and I had a little spiel near the end, it went well.
- I'm applying to grad school for fall (film). I'm working on my reel. My I'm applying to GA State because it's convenient and because I can afford it.
- I've been hanging out a lot. Good times.
- This picture was taken during a recent excursion to Borders (the bookstore, not P.I. firm) in the Edgewood Shopping District. Andrea (one of my writing partners) and I went to observe patrons. We were seeking some characterizations to apply to something we're working on. We got what we needed. I also picked up a new passion I went to magazine stand and picked up a set of recent spreads. Read the articles & snapped pictures of the best photos.
This disturbed me, apparently: Facebook's terms of service (TOS) used to say that when you closed an account on their network, any rights they claimed to the original content you uploaded would expire. Not anymore. [read it here]
So yeah...may wanna evaluate my affiliation with "the-book." Mark Zuckerberg don't play bout his paper! He will take YO SHIT!
[click here to see me repping ATLANTA] shout out to Nic for taking the pic. http://facesofus.blogspot.com/ FACES OF US is a photo campaign created with the purpose of bringing the fight for LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) rights to the National spotlight. The campaign is still small, but growing, and shows the faces and identities of members of the LGBT community and allies who care about these issues. The fight will not be won unless every legislator in the United States sees that these are their constituents and that the LGBT community deserves FULL EQUAL RIGHTS under the law. The American queer community will not be recognized as first class citizens until every single person in the United States realizes that these people are their neighbors or their friends, or even part of their family. Somebody who is a member of the LGBT community, or a human being for that matter, should not have to look beyond the place that they consider home in order to find equal rights.
"Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself." -- Harvey Fierstein
"I trust friends over family. Family was not chosen by me; friends were. Family, in my experience, tends to take advantage of the idea that you're somehow "joined by blood," and because of it, don't seem to understand that any sort of relationship, no matter how it started, requires work to maintain. Friends tend to understand that a bit more, because those relationships is based a bit more on work, especially if you watched it grow/nurtured it from scratch. If I consider you "family," we'll have to work a bit harder to be "friends." And there isn't a person on this planet who I'm friends with or have been friends with that I'd ever consider family, because I don't think family is the definition of closeness." --K'Roc [http://revkris.blogspot.com]
‘Ology’ comes from the Greek word logos, meaning the “study of” something. Chaseology on a basic level means the study of Chase. Not necessarily me as an individual, rather the things I’m inspired by. I have a divine appreciation for musicians, designers, artists, producers, directors, writers, and poets who give of themselves---offering something layered, unique, and bright. I’m inspired by so much on a daily basis the possibilities are boundless, though music stands at the forefront, I firmly believed anything can inspire. Art helps me appreciate the world, and encourages me to explore its different dimensions. This blog is my means of honoring and sharing the individuals whose creative works I exalt.
