Wood Human Form Dressers
"Woodworker Peter Rolfe has created some of the most lovely hand crafted wood pieces of traditional forms, like console tables, chairs and jewelry boxes.
But his latest sculptural pieces, in the form of female and male human bodies are so interesting, I had to share them with you. Crafted of birch ply, the male and female sculpted torsos include functional drawers. Take a look."

GREG mike. [artist / DESIGNER]
I saw one of his stickers near the Urban
Outfitters off Ponce near the VA Highlands.
"I like the cut of his artistic jib..."
It's neat and bright but it still seems grimy.

Gaga's V magazine Spread

These are some new shots [click to enlarge] of Lady Gaga's spread for V Magazine #60 issue which hits newsstands on July 7th. It's the Beauty Issue/ Fall Preview. This is her first fashion appearance in V magazine and with her flair for all that is avant-garde I doubt it's her last. She was photographed by Sebastian Faena and styled by Nicola Fomichetti. Clad in Givenchy & Balmain, sporting a gold orb piece by Nasir Mazhar, she looks spectacular. Great shots! Thanks for the "exclusive" Austin.

THE BRILLIANCE INTERVIEWS:
Dee & Ricky
NYC might not be the same, but the tradition of creative leaders is still there. Right now The Twins, Dee and Ricky are seated at the thrown of effecting culture in NYC/the world at the moment. The the duos trends have inspired everyone from Marc Jacobs, Murakami to magazine editors all across the board. Why are they important? Because even tho they are ironically twins, they represent true individualism. You know THE BRILLIANCE!!! is on the "watch-them-blow-up-tip" so heres the backstory in the kids. So when you see them in the streets of NY (odds are high) don't get star struck. And yo, the intern gate is open so form a line ladies.
DEE ON THE INSPIRATION FOR THE LEGO ACCESORIES>>>>
"A light bulb never went off we didn't get a chance to pay out electric bill.. But We just did it one day because we were tired or wearing controllers on out waist wanted something more lowkey, we had the lego belt back in 06.. Only ricky was rocking it.. We Had it on ice for a yr.. Then we was at a party in the hamptons ran into one of Marc boys.. He's like yo is that a gucci lego belt?.. Im like yep.. He's like marc would love that im like marc who? He's like marc jacobs im like oword? That's dope.. Then We exchanged contacts.. 2 days later he hits me up like hey dudes im at the mercer.. Come threw bring a couple belts.. Went there enjoyed some beverages polyed at bit.. Gave him some belts.. Next day marc calls us like dude.. I love the belt idea.. Lets do something for fashion week.. Fashion week happend to be a week away but we pulled it off. The show was grand.. And Marc was our big break.. So that's basically how the legos came about it evolved from another idea.. And its ben a success from the likes of takishi and kanye wearing our pieces and a hand full of other celebs and such in that genre."

Kehinde Wiley
I came across this really talented artist online a few days ago. I've been meaning to check out his website and see his collections. I randomly saw one of his pieces somewhere and made a mental note to investigate him more. Turns out he's actually someone I've decided I love. He's known for paintings of modern African American men (from my generation) paired with a classic poses and old European portraiture. It's really quite interesting.
I also found an article on him in BusinessWeek, it's a few years old, it was about dream jobs.
Kehinde Wiley
$12,000-$40,000 per painting
This artist won’t be starving anytime soon. Known for his unique style in which old European portraiture meets modern hip-hop culture, 29-year-old Kehinde Wiley has a waiting list in the hundreds for his work. “I’m blessed to be in the place actualize what’s going on through my head,” says Wiley. He says his dream is for his work to appear in more museums and steer clear of auction houses, as they reduce art to a commodity. Exhibiting up to eight new works every three to six months, Wiley could take in over $1.5 million in a year if he’s productive enough.

John Maeda
I'm OBSESSED with John Maeda. John Maeda! You don't know who John Maeda is?
He's a "Japanese-American graphic designer, computer scientist, university professor, and author. He is the current President of the Rhode Island School of Design. His work in design and technology explores the area where the two fields merge." -Wikipedia (of course.
I was captivated by this piece here (look down--click to enlarge).
