I need them to do a song together.
Just a thought, actually it's more of a request.

If you're a fan of Janelle Monae like we are, then you've been waiting on her full-length debut
album for a minute now. In this clip, Janelle sheds some light on the project with SoulCulture,
right before this performance. Suites 2 & 3 from Metropolis will be coming out together as a
"self-realisational" album entitled, The Ark Android. Watch below as she explains the concept
behind it. No word yet on the release date.

I found some amazing shots of a recent Janelle Monae performance
and I'm salty that I missed it. The photos are by Chris La Putt and
they are freaking amazing. Jane performed at Terminal 5 with Of Montreal
(an American indie pop band formed in Athens, Georgia) Solange also performed,
she joined the band and Janelle for a cover of Diana Ross's "Love Hangover" during the encore.

"...what a lot of people are missing about Monáe is that she puts the art of performing above all else, politics be dammed. Even finishing her follow-up record--Metropolis Suites II and III, due out in January--is of less concern than getting onstage and acting it all out....

they said:
"a few minutes' sketch off the awesome musician's album cover that I'll probably be too lazy
to finish. if you don't know her, then check out the epic sci-fi music video for Many Moons!
skip ahead to the music! if you're not hooked, then... well I don't care. let's get a smoothie."

this is deep.
and it makes me SMILE.
Janelle apparently murdered her tour dates with No Doubt!
(remained androgynous & chic while doing so...)
Gwen & the boys are supporters.
I'm patiently waiting for Ms. Monae to explode on the national scene.
art will win in the end, I truly believe that.

Attempting to classify Janelle Monáe is a waste of time.
The Kansas City native has been making her rounds at some of the year's top festivals, including SXSW and Bonaroo. And if her tuxedo and black-and-white saddle shoes are any indicator of what's to come, then her show is definitely a break from the norm.
This week, the petite 25-year-old hits the road again, opening for pop group No Doubt's reunion tour. She's been known to throw water on the audience, finger paint and crowd surf.
Her out-of-the-box display of showmanship has clearly worked to her advantage.
"I don't marginalize black people or white people. They either like it or they don't," Monáe declared during an interview with BV Newswire. "People discuss my art and talk about it as though they understand it, but it is never required of them to understand what I am doing. I don't get frustrated by that. I can't help my skin color, but it is very important to show that [black people] are not monolithic, and I'm redefining the stereotypes that have been placed on us."
