N.E.R.D. has a new singer.

Photobucket
This is news to me:
Claiming that their music is now ‘very 3-D’, Pharrell Williams says NERD are working on a new album ‘Instant Gratification’ with new member Rhea. Rumor that NERD have a new member named Rhea has been confirmed by Pharrell Williams. “Musically, we’re just somewhere else [with her],” he told MTV News. “The music is now very 3-D. It’s something you have to hear.” “We’re definitely somewhere else,” he continued. “I want to leave that impact moment for when you purchase your download and you purchase your CD. The music is very three-dimensional. We’re just really excited. We feel like NERD has always been the punks of hip-hop and the outcasts of alternative music – just a little different. But this time, we’re taking no prisoners.”

According to publication, Rhea auditioned for NERD via Skype. Her rendition of “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” impressed the band. “It was just a really good time,” she recalled. “When I came in there and I met them and they heard me sing, I think they decided it was the right fit.” Report that NERD appointing a female member was brought to surface in August by Fam-Lay, the rapper signed to The Neptunes’ label, Star Trak Records. In the same month, the Hip-Hop group, which consist of Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley, brought Rhea on-stage during their performance at Lovebox in London. NERD are now prepping to release a new album “Instant Gratification” which is expected to be released in 2010. As for this year, they will be supporting Jay-Z for his upcoming “Blueprint 3” tour along with Wale and J. Cole.

Update: September 2nd
After all the hype that is been with Rhea in this last 2 weeks being a new member of NERD, Fam-Lay now says Rhea is only a new Star Trak Artist “@desio988 RHEA is P’s New artist!!!3:25 PM Aug 25th from TwitterBerry“

Update: August 25th
Who is this girl Rhea allways dancing on stage with NERD at their Tour? Well first it seemed like a average artist who just been touring with NERD but nah. According to Fam-Lay, the 25 year old Guyana born Canadian native is NERD’s new member. „Her names Rhea.. She’s the new member of N.E.R.D.!! & she dope!!“Rhea is prepping her as yet untitled debut for a 2009 release on DJ Clue’s Independent Label Cluemanati, the lead single Choreographer feat. Jadakiss entered the Hip Hop/R&B Charts at No. 23. The track helmed by production The Justice Beats Of America (DJ Clue & Troy Oliver).

Rhea who attended the Berklee College of music in Boston, relocated to New York to pursue her music career. She quickly landed a job doing Commercials for Cover Girl, Diet Pepsi & McDonalds among others. Through the connections she made there, she began working with producers and writing songs with such as the Next Selection artists Uness and Mysto & Pizzi. Last year Rhea met DJ Clue through mutual friends and it was the musical union for which she’d been hoping. For more info, Check out her MySpacePage, her Blogsite & her Twitter Page. This girl right here is damn sexy and can sing. Check out the videos below.

N.E.R.D.'s "Maybe"

N.E.R.D.'s sophomore album "Fly or Die" was a record that helped me define myself.
I was seventeen, on my way to college and I was totally clueless about who I was.
The one thing I knew about myself was that I was completely enamored by N.E.R.D.'s music.
I was a pupil in the school of alternative hip'rock and I took copious notes.
The voice, melodies, rifts, lyrics, theme, and feel felt so fresh and invigorating.
I could not stop listening to this record. I'm at work right now knee deep in paper work and shit.
This video popped into my head so I decided to play the album.
A few tracks in I felt a sudden surge of nostalgia mixed with optimism and glee.
I feel 17 again. For me 17 is curious and new. 6 years ago, I was 17 and I would
give anything to be 17 again if just for one more day.

glow in the dark tour BOOK.

"The only and official record of one of the most highly anticipated tours of the year.
Including a USB drive of previously unreleased music, the book is both a memento of the tour
and an object conceived by the artist himself—entirely collectible on its own.
Appearing alone on stage for almost the entirety of the show with huge Star Wars-inspired
spacescapes behind him, West’s Glow in the Dark Tour is both a musical and a visual odyssey
of Kanye as a true pioneer. This deluxe landscape volume promises to be yet another creation
of this multifaceted artist and will include his original sketches and concepts; 3-D models and
construction of the stage; concept art for "J.A.N.E."; costume designs (including his Grace
Jones-inspired outfits for opening act Rihanna); and blog of his journey.
The gatefolds and special edition USB drive put this artist’s innovative and signature
stamp on an already visually radical piece."

SPAZ!If U want 2

There are moments in your life that you'll always remember.
I just had a flashback to a few months ago. I attended one of
the most highly anticipated concerts of my lifetime: The Glow
In the Dark Tour. N.E.R.D's performance of "Spaz" prompted
an unbridled surge of energy to explode in the arena, this feverish
wave coursed through room like a deluge of adrenaline. The crowd
went ballistic. I loved the energy, it was raw and pure and it made
me feel so alive. I was so happy to be a part of that moment in time.
I can always say "I was there".
Anywho here is the video for "Spaz".

Seeing Sounds

Seeing Sounds is the 3rd album from the monstrous beasts that call themselves N.E.R.D (No-One Ever Really Dies). Their sound is revolutionary, their talent is incomparable and their fan base reports directly to me because I am the number one. Below is a track by track analysis album.
*preciate the link Kenneth*
Time For Some Action
A little garage band funk paired with whispered/low key vocals and some psychedelic sound effects, nice way to jump start the album.
Everyone Nose
Their smash hit single. Beautifully arranged with drums, guitars, horns, scratching, and s/f/x. Dedicated to all the coke whores of the world—keep your nose clean.
Windows
A Rolling Stone-esque rock ballad, meant to make the ladies swoon. Pharrell stares into a beautiful woman’s eyes taking a glimpse at her soul.
Anti-Matter
This track is grungy with a hard caustic edge. A balanced mix of a catchy hip-hop hook and raw rock and roll production. This dis-track is dedicated to all of the jackasses of the world.
Spaz
This track had Atlanta losing their collective minds at the Glow In The Dark Tour last month. This one gets a mosh pit seal of approval—spaz if you want to.
Yeah You
Ever had a bad experience with a stalker—Pharrell has. This funky track chronicles a brief narrative of his experience with a girl who wouldn’t give up.
Sooner or Later
I like this one best because I can relate to it, the vocal arrangement is dope, and it puts me in the mind of classic N.E.R.D tracks like Provider and Maybe.
Happy
This track is rocky/edgy (I’m coining the phrase cliff-like defined as a track that has an edgy rock sound). This one isn’t my favorite, there’s nothing wrong with it but it doesn’t move me.
Kill Joy
I so that all to familiar She Wants To Move shimmy when I listen to this track for some reason. I like it, it’s energetic and wild.
Love Bomb
*sings* “Sitting here in this white padded room, imagining I’m a meteor flying out through the distant space, how’d this tiny spec called Earth destroy tomorrow, so capable of so many things, why make light taking planes, but I believe that when you loose your route just use the sunlight, it can be your guide, no more political dreams, not another excuse, don’t need another love song, we a love bomb, to just blow us away, to freaking blow all the lights out, to turn the night to day, hear it from miles away, a chance to make it right now, fuck what the government says, gotta saves some lives now, is that okkkaaayyy?”
I sing because I’m passionate about this track. It knocked me out of my chair, I instantly learned the lyrics. I have a crazy concept for this video. I think this my favorite track on the album.
You Know What
Blues, R&B, Rock, Jazz, and Hip-Hop all rolled into zesty little track with another catchy hook. Sincere thumbs up.
Laugh About It
Another wild one. This track is kind like a mix between Lapdance, Provider—but in brand new kind of way. It puts me in an optimistic mindset cause no matter what happens later on in life you’ll look back on these times and laugh about them.

Spaz

N.E.R.D. - Spaz

They played Spaz live in Glow In The Dark, Atlanta. Woowzers! The crowd went in-freaking-sane.

I like this one. Again, I'm eager to get my hands on the new material. For those of you who are N.E.R.D. fans Fly or Die & or In Search Of... you probably share my sentiments. Those records are highly favored in my household.

Quiet On The Set

N.E.R.D. "Everyone Nose" video shoot.
source:http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1584718/20080403/nerd.jhtml
According to several eyewitness accounts, a violent brawl erupted Wednesday night on the New York set of N.E.R.D.'s forthcoming music video. The outburst nearly shut down production of the clip, which was filmed inside the Madison nightclub, and at least one person was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Both Lindsay Lohan and Kanye West reportedly visited the set at different times during the shoot, but were not present for the disturbance.

The incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m., sources said, and involved two men, both of whom were serving as extras. The clip — for the track "Everyone Nose," from N.E.R.D.'s upcoming LP, Seeing Sounds — will apparently feature a giant, dancing nose (the song's subject is cocaine use) designed by noted artist Kaws, and unclothed strippers.

While N.E.R.D.'s publicist could not be reached for comment at press time, sources who were on set at the time said that none of the band's members were in the club at the time of the fracas. Lohan — who reportedly makes a cameo in the clip — left the set about three hours before the incident took place, eyewitnesses said.

"Some dude, one of the extra guys, jumped another extra and started calling him a pu--- and punching him in the face," said one of the club's employees, who spoke to MTV News but did not want to be named. "They fell against the bar, and there were all these beer bottles up there which were being used as props, and the bottles fell over and broke. The guy who was jumped, his arm got cut, and he started bleeding all over the place. The other dude ran away. It wasn't such a big deal. The police did show up, and the dude that was attacked went to hospital and sat there for two hours before he was seen."

Filming later resumed when several union workers who'd threatened to walk off the set were asked to stay, the eyewitness said, adding that workers were complaining that the production team behind the video hadn't hired enough security staff and felt the work environment had become unsafe.

No arrests have been made, and police are not actively investigating the matter, an NYPD spokesperson said. The man who was assaulted was treated for his injuries and released.

One eyewitness claimed there was "blood everywhere" inside the club after the fight, and that several production assistants were instructed to clean it up. Sources claim the fight broke out while cameras were rolling.

James Demasi of New Day Management, which operates Madison, confirmed that the incident did occur and brought the shoot to a complete halt.

"I think the whole fight was about getting more camera time," Demasi said. "I was there, and the fight was between two males. One of them was taunting the other, and the extra who was being taunted jumped up and assaulted the individual who was taunting him. Some of the glass props broke, and the extra who was behind the attack fell down with the other guy, and cut his arm on the broken glass he fell on. They were pulled apart, and the guy who was attacked went to the hospital."

Pharrell's Movement

Pharrell Williams Says N.E.R.D. Harness A 'Big Monster Of Energy' On Forthcoming LP
(source: MTV)

Grace Jones was a slave to the rhythm, and N.E.R.D. were slaves to the energy when they recorded their new LP, Seeing Sounds.

"We didn't care about genres; we're not doing this for the money," Pharrell Williams said at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. "We're doing this for people who pledge allegiance to our movement."

Skateboard P said that his fans want to rock out and be taken on an emotional roller coaster, and the only way to do that is to give some full-on speaker-blasting records. Their sound this time around is not necessarily club music, but it's definitely European-influenced, layered and textured. "It's a big album of LSD, sonic drug," said bandmate Chad Hugo.

N.E.R.D.'s other member, Shay, further elaborated on the album title. It was inspired by the neurological phenomenon synesthesia, which combines two senses. They were fascinated after learning about it while watching the Discovery Channel.

"It's a mixture of senses that may cause a person to experience colorful hearing, auditory smell," Shay explained. "For example, you might see something, and it might trigger a song. You might hear something, and it might trigger a taste in your mouth. When we created this album, it was the music we envisioned while creating it. We decided it would be the appropriate title for the album."

"If you really analyze that," Pharrell added, "the most inspiration is probably deep inside a synesthesiac. So for us, 'seeing sounds' is what we relate to the most. We figured we'd make an album out of it.

"Energy and emotion was the criteria [while recording], but we made the music anticipating the [live] show," he continued. "That was the most important thing. ... [The song] 'Spazz' is [a] nostalgic, hip-hop feeling with some drum and bass. It becomes a big, tall monster. It's almost like this big gorilla looking down at you. If he smacks you, he kills you. His fingers are the size of your body. That's kinda what we're doing in N.E.R.D. We're facing this big monster of, of what we know is out there, of what we see, that big monster of energy."

N.E.R.D. will get ample opportunity to test out their songs on the Glow in the Dark Tour with Kanye West. They open for the Louis Vuitton Don beginning April 16. The first single from their June LP is "Everyone Nose," which deals with cocaine.

The Run Down:

Concrete Loop featured a story about the new N.E.R.D. album in the works and from what I've heard, it's going to be a smash.
Fly or Die was my life's soundtrack the summer before I came to college. I know every lyric, every single track from start to finish. I fell for them hard after hearing In Search of... If you're reading this and you have never heard either...Fix that, immediately.
New Stuff:

Not New Stuff:

My friend Ricky is the drummer in
Dinosaurus(formerly The Stops)
[they are the shit if you ain't know].

He just recently told me about Band of Horses
"No One Gonna Love You" is an incredible song. I thoroughly enjoy their sound. Two Thumbs up.

The buzz is clear, everyone is itching for this new Erykah Badu material...It's all over the blogosphere! Erykah is a consistent artist. All of her albums are well-crafted, expressive, and timeless.

For the record I don't like R. Kelly. (personal preference)
I'm not fond of his presence on the Flashing Lights remix.
I do like this, it was on Kanye's blog.
This shit is fucking dope.

speaking of Kanye here's Consequence...I'm waiting on this album...
