Aright, Still Pretty Good (for a first-timer)

"At first when I see you cry, it makes smile, yea it makes me smile" OUCH! sounds pretty harsh, right? Well this lyric turned me on to pond-crossing sour patch kid, Lily Allen, her sound was refreshing and me message was edgy. She's the casual yet glamorous mean girl next door.

The album begins with her signature song "Smile" a song absolutely perfect for strolls through the park with your new mate, while your ex sits on a bench. It's super catchy you'll probably find yourself humming the infectious melody under your breath while raking leaves or touching yourself inappropriately in a movie theater.

Her lyrics are venomous and firmly direct: Take the song "Not Big"
" never wanted it to end up this way,
You've only got yourself to blame,
I'm gonna tell them that you're rubbish in bed now
And that you're small in the game."
I honestly love it. This track is a ominous warning to all the cocky (no pun intended) S.O.B.s out there to be wary of Lils, she tells it like it is.

My favorite song on this album is a track entitled "Littlest Things" it's not as rigid as the other tracks and offers that idea that just because she seems like a spiteful beast, she is a simple gal who wants simple things--minus the bullshit.

"LDN" is another goodie, it's relatable and simple. "Nan, You're a Window Shopper" is the anthem on this record. It gut punches all the anal cheapskates of the world, and mocks their incredible lack of cool:
" Nan you're a window shopper,
taking a look but you never buy.
Nan you're a window shopper,
You won't pick it up if its over a fiver."

Lily Allen is a departure from the mainstream peanut butter cups of the past...She's no queen pristine--but then again she doesn't act hard as nails all the freaking time. She's just a uncommon commodity with a sleek sound and a closet full of snazzy dresses. Ms. Allen is the bees knees.

Get her album if you're open to something less "Baby One More Time" and more you're wack in the sack.

What next?
