I'm diggin the song Beautiful Boy. (very unique premise)
[from her website] |"Beautiful Boy," another up-tempo from Hills, tells the story of a girl's boyfriend being jealous of her gay best friend. "The guy is like, 'Hey, why are you spending all your time with him? And why is he dressing better than I am? What's up?'" Nikki explains, flashing a devilish grin.|

Nikki is a singer, songwriter, producer, musician, and actress.
She's making a name for herself.
Give her a listen.

The Run Down:

Concrete Loop featured a story about the new N.E.R.D. album in the works and from what I've heard, it's going to be a smash.
Fly or Die was my life's soundtrack the summer before I came to college. I know every lyric, every single track from start to finish. I fell for them hard after hearing In Search of... If you're reading this and you have never heard either...Fix that, immediately.
New Stuff:

Not New Stuff:

Dinosaurus(formerly The Stops)
[they are the shit if you ain't know].

He just recently told me about Band of Horses
"No One Gonna Love You" is an incredible song. I thoroughly enjoy their sound. Two Thumbs up.

The buzz is clear, everyone is itching for this new Erykah Badu material...It's all over the blogosphere! Erykah is a consistent artist. All of her albums are well-crafted, expressive, and timeless.

For the record I don't like R. Kelly. (personal preference)
I'm not fond of his presence on the Flashing Lights remix.
I do like this, it was on Kanye's blog.
This shit is fucking dope.

Every Now and Then U Need a Little K-Os

K-Os on MySpace
I love K-Os, his music is fresh and makes you move no matter where you are. My top song is "Sunday Morning". His lyrics, they just SPEAK to me for some reason. All of my life experience in some way can be recounted listening to his music. When I listen to his album I sit is reminisce in an utter state of euphoria. I can't say enough to urge you to check him out. Below is a little more about him.

[From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia]
k-os (born Kevin Brereton on February 20, 1972 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer of Trinidadian descent. His real name may also be cited as Kheaven, a spelling he adopted later.

The alias "k-os" is pronounced "chaos" and is an acronym for "Knowledge of Self," although in a later interview he also said that it stands for "Kheaven's Original Sound." His music incorporates a wide variety of music genres including but not limited to rap, funk, rock, and reggae. The lyrics frequently focus on promoting a "positive message" while at times expressing criticism of mainstream hip hop culture's obsession with money, fame and glorification of violence.[1] A musician as well as a producer, k-os has written and produced a large portion of all three of his albums. k-os usually performs with a live band, something that is uncommon in the hip hop genre. He sometimes plays guitar and keyboard both during live performances and in the studio.[2]

k-os received his first musical exposure with the single "Musical Essence," released in 1993. After the release of his second single "Rise Like The Sun" in 1996 he withdrew from the industry because he was dissatisfied with his musical style. He reappeared briefly in 1999 and released his debut album Exit in 2002. The album received positive reviews but sold relatively few copies. He released his second album Joyful Rebellion in 2004, which received platinum status in Canada. Joyful Rebellion received positive reviews, but at times was criticized for speaking extensively on the state of hip hop. k-os's third album, Atlantis: Hymns for Disco, was released in 2006.

Chromeo|

So you know how you don't know that you like something until you try it, then you're like wow, I didn't realize, like the first time you have sushi. Well eletrofunk is the same way. I posted Chromeo's Bonafide Loving in 2007. This morning their album Fancy Footwork was my life's soundtrack. I felt like every step, swivel, every move was inside of a cartoon. I was basically Sonic The Hedgehog this morning.
Interesting little tidbit I found out: The two were best friends since childhood and they describe themselves as the only successful Arab/Jewish collaboration since the beginning of time.

Anita Baker! *bows*

I Apologize
Uploaded by ice1906

Anita Baker is a timeless artist. I've been listening to her albums since I was a kid on the way to school with my Ma. She's one of my top 3 vocalist. Her music is so sincere and soothing. *swoons*

U hearda' Utada Hikaru?

I started listening to Utada Hikaru my freshman year, as usual a friend put me on to her. I was reminded of her while reading this guy's blog. In 2004 it was practically impossible to find her album in stores, so I ordered it. She's incredible. I have the album Exodus (it was the only one available at the time). It's a smash. My favorite song is the title track Exodus, and Devil Inside. She has a different sound, but it's incredible. I love her. Her beats pulsate, her melodic voice resonates...check it out. I'm in between classes so I don't have much time to elaborate but seriously google her if you're looking to embark on a enlightening journey to the far east.

Zero 7 [ thanks Fatima ! ]

So a friend told me about Zero 7.
I'm completely engrossed in them right now.
Can't stop playing it in my head.
check em out.
It's perfect for just relaxin.
seriously go get one of their albums.

@ least 2 Janlle Monae tracks each day for optimal health.

Feedback on "Feedback"

I'm supremely disappointed with Janet Jackson's video "Feedback".
It is sub par, tacky, and plain.
Was it sponsored by Cap'N Crunch?
I refuse to say "she's done it again!" because if this is what she is coming back with she's in for a rude awakening.
"Feedback" looks like it was made in the 80's and not in the cool, nuanced, "Sexual Seduction" way. I think she needs to re-do that entire thing. I'm willing to help, pro bono. Mind you, she looks incredible! This video is just not on the level of the song, the song is high energy, sexy, and technical...This video is awkward, weird, and kinda---dare I say it: WACK.

Some one explain the significance of the Crunch Berries please, is that the new trend? Cereal? I don't get it.

What was the budget? $2,000?

Tracks I'm hurting 4

I want this song soooooo bad it hurts...

Defining Moment

I was waiting in line at the bookstore. I saw a book that I remember seeing when I was a freshman, standing in line. I started to flashback to the defining moments of my college experience. The fun, folly, and fights...The grades, the babes, and the sage. This song immediately resonated in my head.
College: to put it simply, the best four years of my life (so far).

Hang In There Britney...

Everybody goes through shit, but having CNN covering your private life--thats another level. It's as if her life/reality is the world's "reality tv show" it seems scripted and entertaining and fabricated, but in reality it's not... I think the media is hoping for the worst...I wonder if the "journalist" who are covering this think about the other pressing social issues...Nah, they'd rather sensationalize and exploit celebrities...*yawn* ET, E!, MTV, CNN cover something else please.

The Dream

I like The Dream's CD. Mind you, his songs have a similar, disticnt sound, but hey the same could be said for Timbo and/or Pharrell. It's a good ride record. He has a different voice, he's got his own things going..eh-eh-eh-eh...LOL (I'm lame). You gotta admit, it's catchy.

Spin'N in January

So a friend told me to check out the January issue of spin magazine.
I did.
Now you go pick it up.
It's well worth the few bucks.
I'm all about these two characters so I posted their pics but the magazine features a myriad of other influential artist, they covered all bases.

Frankly, I think the former is better than the latter...

Amy Winehouse blew up last year with her second album "Back to Black". The sultry sounds, and pain ridden lyrics hit the masses and made her a household name. Personal struggles aside, Ms. Winehouse is a force reckoned with. Amy's first album is much better than her second. "Frank", I should have posted this last year, but I was reminded during a conversation with a friend.

My favorites: "No Greater love" "Put It In The Box" "Fuck Me Pumps" & "I Heard Love Is Blind"
Listen:

Her Name is Nicole [Scherzinger]

I think you should go listen to her album, I like it. I think she is really slept on, maybe those damn Pussycat Dolls put some roots on her, or maybe she's just too smoldering hot for own good, but Nicole is the shit.

Listen to the album:

Janelle Monae - Smile

I took this video at her album release show at Apache Cafe in 2007...Tell me she ain't the truth, and I will call you a lier.

Thursday, January 3

a little bit cooler.

"You still playing Sega!?"

I tend to listen to this track with this nasty ass facial expression, like I'm about to spit something vicious and raw, and I only end up saying: "Yeah!" or "Unh!". I got a tall glass of water, and some sherbet, I feel it, its good. I'm currently complacent. This winter break has been a slice of cheesecake, unfortunately this bliss will soon be sealed with a kiss. *shrugs* at least I have my sherbet and water, sometimes thats all you really need.

Male Seeks LTR with Innovative & Talented Musicians

I've been uninspired, the notoriously temperamental winters of Atlanta mixed with the often task-less days of my break have left me in a dire state of musical confusion. The Dream's album is pretty good--Janet & Britney are always in rotation. I hum M.I.A. "Paper Planes" while I iron, & I eat/sleep/ and live for the Cool Kids [pedal down--u know the rest]. At even that slightest whisper of Janelle Monae, my toe taps.
Don't get me wrong I'm content...I guess even happy, but I want more...
It feels like a relationship that lacks spice, prompting a sudden urge for audio infidelity. My ears have a mind of their own, at even the slightest hint of new music or artist they perk and my palms begin to sweat. Sometimes I'm consumed by temptation so intensely that I find myself online looking on imeem, and mtv, scrounging around looking for a quick hook up. I'm not proud of it, but I even went so far as to go to Best Buy and aimlessly wander the music section.Temptation, lurks within...Sometimes I just wanna grab some headphones and get down! With this in mind, I see that though I have a firm bond with my current play-list, I can't commit fully without exploring alternative means of audio satisfaction. After some serious conversations with myself, an open relationship is feasible...Now that the guilt is gone...alls I need is some sideline action...Serious inquiries only, please send stats, label, and genre. No pedestrians.

The Legend believes in Home Schooling

John Legend legend has launched his own record label
[HomeSchool Records]

I caught a glimpse of some of his artist on TVone a few weeks ago. It was a great concert. I've had the immense pleasure of seeing John Legend live [w/ Robin Thicke] and it was an incredible night to say the least. I saw Estelle's video in rotation on MTV. I like it, it's a like soul mixed with MOD fashion, locked in a smokehouse and cured with a seasoning blend of spice, juke joint jazz and British Hip Hop. 2008 may be their year, only time will tell. check it out.

the movement.
