Mika's new album is for the kids.
Mika has described his forthcoming second album as a collection of songs "dealing with his adolescent teenage years".
The as-yet-untitled follow-up to his 2007 debut, Life In Cartoon Motion, is set to be released in September 2009.The Brit Award winning singer-song writer said the record was a direct follow up to his debut.
He added: "The first album dealt with my childhood. This album in a sense is kind of part two."
The flamboyant pop star continued: "I became fascinated with the idea that on the first record I referenced a lot of nursery rhymes and fairy tales.
"When you're a kid you just sing them and you love them and you're put to sleep with them.
"But when you're a teenager you read them again and you realise its all about babies dying and people chopping off each other's body parts."
Two of the tracks set to appear on the record - Blue Eyes and Toy Boy - recently featured on his debut EP Songs For Sorrow, which the singer said acted "as a bridge between first and second album".
"Toy Boy talks about life through the eyes of this little boy doll who wrestles for the affections of the boy that owns him," he explained.
"But he gets rejected and taken on by the mother who turns him into a voodoo doll for his father who has left her.
"Its sad because he ends up slightly dismembered with pins in his eyes dying in a cupboard."
Despite its dark themes, the singer said the album also deals with teenage joy.
"I think that is very much a sign of someone's teenage years because in order to be truly joyful you have to let your barriers fall down," he argued.
"As we get older we construct those barriers a lot more solidly and it's a lot harder to get rid of them.
"So that kind of fragile no holds barred totally unselfconscious joy is very much something that was present in my teenage years."
Mika, whose debut sold more than five million copies worldwide, has recently become friends with chart topper Lady Gaga.
"I met her at one of her shows in LA," he revealed. "I listened to a lot of her music but it wasn't until I saw her live that I really put the pieces together with her.
"I really admire the fact she writes all that stuff and she cares so much about what she does and there's so much concept and construct behind everything.
"I know she polarises opinion but that is only a good thing."

FORMAT mag [Interview w/ Tim William]
I just found this it's from 2008 but it's new to me.
In 1989 when “Saved by the Bell” first aired on television, Zach, Lisa, Kelly, Slater, Jessie and Screech had no idea that almost 20-years later Tim William would be performing a partially inspired song about the sitcom called, “She’s so 80s” during shows around the country. After the soundtrack for the ‘90s hit television series reached the stores in 1995, Tim had already gained an infatuation with music and had been swept away by the arts. Recently coming off tour with Gym Class Heroes on the Van’s Warped Tour and working on a project with Travis McCoy, the New York native plans to change the face of music with Him After Her releasing on iTunes on October 7, 2008. Thanks to Tim William and his band, the Arcade Stars, the bellsjust might save the music.
“They might try to label me but then, I’ll sit down at a piano and sing a song like John Legend or Alicia Keys and then I’ll stand up and rock out like Fall Out Boy.”
Format: Who is Tim William?
Tim: Tim William is a musician; a keyboardist for Kidz in the Hall, Gym Class Heroes and Tim William is a sex symbol. Tim William is an icon for life, itself.
Format: Do you share the same interest as Kidz in The Hall and their infatuation with NaturaLambs?
Tim: With what? NaturaLambs? Nope. We share none of the same interest.
Format: [Laughs] What’s your relationship like with Major League Entertainment and what’s their role in your career and how much input do they have in the creative process?
Tim: Major League Entertainment is like “The Little Engine That Could.” They are my management and they are playing the role of a label while I’m unsigned. They also handle all my business management and they do play a role as far as taking in consideration their creative input.
Format: Your music seems to be inspired by the whole 80s, Rock mezcla. What happens to Tim William after the whole fad is over?
Tim: Ohhh. Let’s just eliminate that question all together. That doesn’t inspire my music at all. I listen to everything from Fall Out Boy to Gym Class, to Coldplay to Prince. I’m super-eclectic when it comes to what I listen to, I work with so many people and I think my work shows how spread apart that is. I work with people from Sweden to New York.

A Good Day to be Black and Sexy.
My DEAR DEAR FRIEND, MZB [twitter.com/quietasitskept FOLLOW HIM] is infamous for his taste in music and film. MZB knows what he likes and that's just how it is. NOT to say that he's close minded---because that's definitely not the case! Though our taste in music and film differ greatly, every now and then we find a common denominator. This weekend he mentioned that he purchased a film "A Good Day to be Black and Sexy"...I thought it would be something like "Nora's Hair Salon" or one of those BET type films. Not at all. I only caught the last three vignettes but I really enjoyed what I saw. Then upon further inspection of the DVD case I realized this movie went to Sundance in 2008! The movie is very tongue and cheek. It's Dennis Dortch's directorial debut! He really explored and dispelled common stereotypes while keeping everything authentic and in perspective. What I also liked was the fact that it was super sexy but not the least bit raunchy. The movie is awesome. THANKS MZB!
Synopsis of the Film:
Writer/director/editor Dennis Dortch explores the subject of sexuality and relationships within the black community in this collection of six vignettes set in Los Angeles and designed to shatter stereotypes about black sexuality. From the woman determined to get hers first to the curious teenager who finds herself in a questionable situation and the boy who becomes stifled by interracial taboos, Dortch's film doesn't shy away from the more controversial aspects of contemporary sexuality. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Friday video!
"The "She's a Bitch" video was directed by Hype Williams; similar to his other clips for Elliott, Williams makes extensive use of unique effects, costuming, and sets. Highlights of the video include Elliott and her dancers being raised from underwater on a giant hydraulic "M", and also a complete set made from Electro Luminescent lighting. Although EL lighting is cheap and readily available today, in 1999 it was not. Experts had to be flown in from Germany to construct the set, which even included an EL costume.
Costuming for the video was also unconventional. For much of the video, Missy Elliott and her dancers can be seen dressed in rubber suits with bald heads. The production cost of the video was over $2 million, making it one of the most expensive videos of all time." ----Wikipedia

Major Lazer.
This track is just all kinds of skitso----it's afropunk and reggae with a splash of Beach Boys and a couple of dashes of electro-pop. The video is dope and makes me very nostalgic. I felt like I was a 9 year old kid eating Fruit Loops out of an oversized bowl in my footie pajamas. This video was directed by Ferry Gouw. This song is from Major Lazer's album so aptly titled "Guns Don't Kill People, Lazers do"
Definitely check him out on his myspace if you like it as much as I do.

They're with ColliPark Music and I LIKE THEM. *shocking* I feel a sense of La'Trimm, a touch (just a touch) of JJ Fad an ounce of Solange and a sprinkle of TLC. Their vocals are great. Listen to the song "Confetti" on their myspace. I like their aesthetic and energy. Mind you it's sugary sweet urban pop, but I enjoy it nonetheless. I have a thing for duos, and these two are just too damn adorable. AND THEY ARE COUSINS! Awwwwwww.

O-Ren Ishii: As your leader, I encourage you to -- from time to time and always in a respectful
manner -- to question my logic. If you're unconvinced a particular plan of action I've decided is the
wisest, tell me so. But allow me to convince you. And I will promise you, right here and now, no
subject will be taboo ... except, of course, the subject that was just under discussion. The price you
pay for bringing up either my Chinese or my American heritage as a negative is, I collect your

Rye Rye is Having a BABY.
From her blog:
"To all my fans,I was suppose to be on the A-Trak tour but because of personal reasons i was pulled in the direction of not doing it. Things happen for a reason some happen at the the wrong point of ya life but no one knows why or for what reason only God. So yes I was blessed with a child. At first i was teary eyed and my first thought was to get rid of it. I asked God for guidance and i went to the hospital 4 times and each time i had a breakdown and i knew what direction God was pulling me in. WHAT GOD HAS FOR YOU, NOBODY CAN TAKE!!! AND HE DOESNT GIVE YOU MORE THAN WHAT YOU CAN HANDLE. i feel as tho i had a baby and i had to much integrity to abort her my mom was on the table about to have me aborted and seen my heartbeat and changed her mind. I'm young but I'm also grown and right now its alot on me. BUT THESE THINGS DIDNT STOP ME ONLY MOTIVATED ME TO WORK 10 TIMES HARDER!!!!!! And i have alot of resect for the label for understanding and backing me and willing to work around this so we can release an amazing album."
Rye Rye was the first artist signed to MIA's record label NEET.
Her song "Bang" appeared during the end credits of Fast & Furious.

Me You and Everyone We Know
This is one of my favorite films. It was directed by Miranda July, it was actually her directorial
debut. It follows several subplots that all revolve around an intertwined cast of characters. It's
quirky and irreverent. I really loved it. The script is amazing and really inspired me. There is a
scene in the movie with these two characters that is so f*cking hilariously awkward and off kilter!
I definitely suggest you check it out and tell me what you think. Sundance & Cannes approved.

MY Exclusive Interview w/ Boneintell
What types of things inspire your lyrics?
Life experience you know. The things I've been through in my life and relationships with people. It really depends sometimes I even get inspiration by living vicariously through other peoples personal experiences.
What's your creative process like? Do you write verses first then go into the studio or vice versa?
It really varies, there is no set standard. If I have something on my mind I'll just get it out. If it's something really deep and I don't want to freestyle it, I'll sit down and write about it.
What mainstream and or underground artist/producers would you like to work with?
Dr. Dre! Timbaland, Missy, Q-Tip and Talib because I feel like they took hip-hop to a different standard. As far as underground, definitely DJ Cash Money. Also, DJ Saul and Johnny Giuliani (both whom I've work with and I want to work with more.)
What are you currently working on?
I'm currently working on my album, there is no due date as of yet. I'm thinking October/December 2010. I'm also working on music with two groups. One is FULL DECK which consists of myself, Sonny Lewis and Shuggie B. The other, OUT MOB, consist of myself, Peg Star, Bry'Nt, and Medino Green.
How would you describe your lyrical style?
Versatile. It's not just grimy or informative, it's eclectic.
What inspired your song "Fatboi Shyt"?
I have to give the credit to Miss Teary [twitter.com/MISSTEARY] a former member of Pretty Thugs. I listened to her song "Fat Bitch" and loved what she was saying. A lot of people try to point their nose down at bigger people in general and it's my way of saying I'm me and I'm going to be me regardless. *laughs* If you with somebody and they go to McDonald's and get two double cheeseburgers and fries they on they' "fatboi shyt" or if you watch somebody bust down a whole bucket of chicken they on they "fatboi shyt". You see somebody walking down the street with gravy on their shirt; fatboi shyt. This song is for anybody; fat, thick, husky, skinny, and inbetween. *laughs*
What was your coming out process like?
Schlong. *laughs* Slow and short but long. It took a close college friend of mine to basically call me out. She basically just told me to stop frontin' and I couldn't do anything but blush. Two days later I came out to her officially. That Thanksgiving I told my Mom, I cried on the phone with her. *laughs* Don't let nobody tell you a man ain't supposed to cry. *laughs* At this point I'm about being real and not trying to appease other people.
Break (You're tired of hearing it), Bury (You love it, you want to share it with future generations), and Buy (It’s coming out soon and you gotta have it)?
Break - I respect everybody and their work so I wouldn't break anybodies record.
Bury - Floetry's first album Floetic because it's so poetic---lyricism at it's best.
Buy - Nothing really stands out, but I definitely want to check out the new 50 Cent when it drops.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
I'm going to go wherever my music it leads me. I want to international, not necessarily a superstar but I want people to know my me, respect my craft and enjoy my music.
Aside from my interview questions Bone went in on various other topics and shared his perspective on a variety of different things...
Boneintell on HIP-HOP...
I don't think Hip-Hop is dead. I mean there are people who are all about the facades and jumping on bandwagons but there are other who still do it for the love. For the love of the music and the movement and not money.
Boneintell on being an OUT, GAY HIP-HOP ARTIST...
I'm not afraid to say I'm gay---bravery scares people. *laughs* I stand firm. I am who I am and it really doesn't matter. I'm about BEATING STEREOTYPES and showing people that it's alright to be yourself, do the things you do as long as you evolve along the way. BEAT STEREOTYPES!
Boneintell will be in Atlanta this September for Black Pride. He will perform as the opening act at the Opening Ceremonies. He is releasing "Changing Faces Vol. 2" on the 14th and "Changing Faces Vol.1" is available now. He's also planning on releasing the single "Alone In The Dark" in August. I'm in Black Kids mood.
Black Kids - Hurrican Jane [The VIDEO - which is epically fantastic]
Jane, I've made it plain,
although I'm faded as a ghost:
I want you here inside me.
Say the word.
Oh, you've been playing nice,
but I can see it in your eyes,
you're thinking, "Christ.
He's everybody's girl."
You can't spend the night...
Jane, I've seen you at the club.
You were tearin' up the rug
with no regard for form.
You're such a brute!
You had a ready elbow
for the girls you hate
or just don't know.
You head-butt me,
cos you thought it was cute.
You can't spend the night...
Yes, I'm sure you're right.
You can't spend the night...
Yeah, I'm sure you're right.
You can't spend the night...
Yes, I'm sure you're right.
But we could spend the night together.
Or alone. That would be better.
It's Friday night and I ain't got nobody.
Oh, what's the use of making a bed?
I took something and it feels like karate;
it's kicked me down and left me for dead.
It's Friday night and I ain't got nobody,
so what's the use of pulling a shape?
I put what I want, when I want, in my body.
I'm never gonna give what I take.
Jane, I've seen the pain you've dealt.
You've been with all my friends.
You tell me guard my heart,
I might get hurt.
No doubt you'll hurt my feelings,
and it's a given I'll be kneeling.
But I'm telling myself
that it's gonna be worth it.

Rich Hil - O's [video]
After doing some research I just realized that this is Tommy Hilfiger's son. Mind you I still like the music, but my initial reaction was discomfort. I said to myself: "wait? can I still like him?" It was something about him being insanely rich (rather his father being insanely rich) that made me skeptical. I think I have an natural disdain for the rich (it's rooted in jealousy, LOL). Then I evaluated my emotions and thought about it. He's clearly attempting to strike out on his own and find his own path, which I respect completely. Also, like I said before, I like the music so yeah...Check Out This Article!

So far all I know is that he's obsessed with Limos and Hippies and I like his music.
He has a track out with Kid Cudi "Girls, Sound, & Colors), which caught my attention.

Soulja Boy Tells'em.
Ok Ok Ok...This post doesn't seem like it goes but trust me, I have a point. A few days a go hip-hop hit maker Soulja Boy basically went on a rant on his twitter. Basically he went in on his label and the individuals who are aiding in the manipulation of his media image and his music. Well, he blogged about the fiasco and I respect him even more than before. I always thought (though some of his music isn't my taste) he is really an artist who thoroughly enjoys making music and I have to respect that. Anyway, here is his blog.
I know I might sound crazy, because a lot of you who are reading are probably like, I wish I had this ni**a’s money. But, the truth is that money got me twisted. All I want to do is go back to making music for the love of it. The accolades and the awards are for everyone else. The music is for me. The music is my happiness. So, of course I am struggling in my mind right now…cause I wanna get back to place where I woke up, thinking about what I was gonna write that day. Where I went to sleep ready to dream about what I was gonna write the next day.
I know my fans. And I know they will understand this. This ain’t got nothing to do with y’all. Oh yeah... sorry to all my white peeps out there. I'm not racist :) But I guess time will heal all wounds…
This felt like the end of an episode of Smart Guy.

This is her first fashion appearance in V magazine and with her flair for all that is avant-garde I doubt it's her last. She was photographed by Sebastian Faena and styled by Nicola Fomichetti. Clad in Givenchy & Balmain, sporting a gold orb piece by Nasir Mazhar, she looks spectacular. Great shots! Thanks for the "exclusive" Austin.
