Much Better.
Looks like Mr. Thicke made some improvements to his "Magic" video.
Looks so much better.

Pursuit.
I came to a serious realization yesterday as I was sitting idly on the couch watching television. *gasp* I know, yes I was watching television. I can't explain why, but I just decided to sit and be stupified for a little while. I was watching the food network, and someone was making something lean and pretentious. Anyway I started to feel like I had lost my mojo. I wasn't depressed or anything like that, I started to feel guilty for being sucked in. I mean I had so much other stuff I could have been doing, but I wasn't doing it. Typically I can go-go-gadget with the best of them but as the summer has dwindled, so has a significant portion of my personal drive.
I'm over this whole graduate thing. I finally get it, schools over, and I'm moving on accordingly. Job hunting no longer plagues me. I mean I have a job, its not the one I want, but most of the jobs I've been applying for I don't really want either.
I'm knee deep in GRE prep. Good fortune smiled down on me this weekend and I finally got the GRE Comprehensive Companion!*jigs* Grad school is the definitive next step. mind you I don't have the money to pay for the GRE or to apply to schools, but I'll make a way out of no way--as I've done before. I've gotten myself this far, and there is such a ways to go.

Little Lesson (EP vs. LP)
Just in case you didn't know.
EP= Extended Play
LP= Long Playing record
An EP contains a few songs (usually around 3-5 songs)
LP is a full album.
source.
for example:
Gym Class Heroes have a brand new EP
on iTunes called "Patches from the Quit".
I have it, but I haven't listened to it yet.
I'll keep you posted.
1. Cookie Jar (Featuring The-Dream)
2. Peace Sign/Index Down (Featuring Busta Rhymes)
3. Blinded By The Sun
Now I have listened to the new Adele LP
and I'm definitely digging it.
Full review soon, I suppose.

Hey D. Woods.
I was at Atlantic Station today with Takeira, Dominique, MZB, and Donald.
We spotted 1/5 of Danity Kane casually strolling through.
D. Woods was super cool, and very low key.
Shout out the her.
Here she is with Donald.

This Week's LEXICAL ITEM:
cheese and rice
(noun) This is a less offensive way of saying "Jesus Christ"
It originated with the movie 'The Faculty'. In the real version, one of the characters exclaimed "Jesus Christ!" but in the edited TV version, they had it changed to "Cheese and rice!" Guy #1: Aliens landed on Earth! Guy #2: Cheese and rice!

I'm not alone.
Kanye posted this yesterday.
& I've clearly been all about Ryan Leslie
for the last few weeks.
Glad Ye jumped on the bandwagon.
LOL, jokes.
Seriously this pic is hot.
Ryan is about to launch.

Rihanna - Disturbia
Rihanna's New Video - DISTURBIA
I really like “Disturbia” and I think its kinda cute that
she co-wrote it with Chris Brown (or so I hear).
David LaChapelle directed this video so I knew it would be fresh.
Though youtube quality isn't as crisp as I'd like.

Laced Out!
Is it possible to take a single idea and launch it into a full fledged company in a single year? Indeed it is. If you don’t believe me just ask Jeff Fernandez the sole proprietor of Laced Out. Just last year Jeff was your average Georgia State University student with a penchant for collecting sneakers. Some how the stars aligned and he decided to expand his interest in custom kicks with a clothing line that focuses on sneaker culture. L.O.! shirts are not your average plain white tees. The shirts are clever, hip, and one hundred percent heavy cotton (to ensure durability). Not to mention Jeff caters to all of his customers by offering sizes beyond your basic XL going well into 4XL. During my sit down with Jeff he was sporting a red Laced Out tee himself. His shirt featured Mr. Tee sporting aviators and his signature gold chains, the back of the tee states: “I pity the fool that rocks fakes.” Jeff explained that he is inspired by everything around him and he aspires to become a household name. Jeff’s company has grown exponentially over the course of a year. He’s done several events including a successful launch party at Verve Lounge as well as Sneaker Friends 08’ with Greg Street. This determined student is not stopping here, he’s working all new designs and a women’s line. If you’re looking for Laced Out apparel you have options. You can mosey on downtown to Sol Munki or LacedUp—now if gas money is an issue hop on some free Wi-Fi and visit www.getlacedout.com. The shirts go for about $20 a piece which is a steal. The most popular Laced Out design is the “Fresh Kicks Daily” shirt inspired by Krispy Kreme. Don’t get left out, get Laced Out.

The Dark Knight.
The movie started off with a bang then it seemed to hit a lull. It wasn’t really a lull, there was some time spent on character sketching giving the audience a little introduction to each of the key players. Not to mention the plot thickened, alliances were made, and motives and rationale where identified during this “lull” as well. I’m not sure what could have been done to diminish the noticeable decline in momentum so I can’t comment on it without offering a valid suggestion. Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the joker was maniacal, gripping, hilarious and terrifying. His mannerisms, voice, even the way he lick his disfigured mouth left this unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach. He was a raw representation of a villain, because there is a distinct difference between a villain and a bad person. A bad person will do anything to get what they want, typically they desire power or money. A villain in its true form has no real wants, doesn’t desire money, they just have an unbridled passion for destruction. I don’t want to give away any parts of the film but I will say the Joker is true villain. There are aspects of the Joker’s character that can actually draw the slightest tinge of sympathy, which is really disturbing considering the heinous crimes he commits. On the other hand you have Bruce/Batman the Dark Knight, brooding alone on the top of skyscrapers like a gargoyle. Batman is not the byproduct of evolution, or a savior from some distant planet, Batman is merely the product of a desire to do good and human ingenuity. Standing true to his visceral convictions throughout the film, he sort of offers you that alternative perspective of the hero archetype. Being a hero isn’t about the glory, it is about doing what is best and making the decisions that others can’t make. Other films about heros attempt to capture that concept, this one articulates that point very well and in a realistic relatable way. I give this one an A. It was great. Check it out.

I'm going! You should come
Where: The Foundry @ Puritan Mills
When: Friday, July 25th7PM - 12AM
Art, Beats and Lyrics is an exhibition of multi-media art and design that explores the recent work of a diverse group of visual artists that have emerged from the subcultures in hip hop throughout the U.S. The core of the project involves painting, sculpture, and photography, as well as film, video, performance, and product design by more than thirty individuals who range from well known artists to up and coming local talent. AB+L started with an audience of over 400 people and grew to over 4,000 people for a one evening event at the High Museum. The demographic audience for AB+L is the “Urbanite”, between the ages of 21 to 34. AB+L can capture the urban audience by maintaining its roots in the street and promoting the underground experience. AB+L understands the sub-cultures within the underground network and can reach this market effectively and consistently. This platform also gives local urban artists a channel in which to expose their art to a wider audience.

This Month's Overused Buzz Word is....
swag - apperance ,style ,or the way he or she presents them selves.
(Example: He got a killa swag)
An overused buzz word is one that has peaked in popularity
(typically this decline occurs after overuse by mass amounts of people).
Unfortunately there is very little that can be done after a buzz word has peaked.
The only suitable thing to do is find a suitable alternative and wait a minimum
of five years before uttering said word again.
How do you know if it has peaked?
When someone your parents age uses the word in casual conversation
...yes...my Mom said swag today signaling the end of times.

SPAZ!If U want 2
There are moments in your life that you'll always remember.
I just had a flashback to a few months ago. I attended one of
the most highly anticipated concerts of my lifetime: The Glow
In the Dark Tour. N.E.R.D's performance of "Spaz" prompted
an unbridled surge of energy to explode in the arena, this feverish
wave coursed through room like a deluge of adrenaline. The crowd
went ballistic. I loved the energy, it was raw and pure and it made
me feel so alive. I was so happy to be a part of that moment in time.
I can always say "I was there".
Anywho here is the video for "Spaz".

Ryan Leslie
What it is about light skinned pretty boys with two first names? First, Kevin Michael now Ryan Leslie. To be fair the comparisons probably stop there. Ryan Leslie is probably best known for his work with R&B siren Cassie. He produced here mega successful hit "Me & U". To his credit, he's more than just one hit. Dude is gifted. He has a an ear and a voice. He's worked with some of the greats, and soon he'll be one. His forthcoming album will be released soon...
You should definitely mosey on over to his youtube page.
He's a sharp tool, for example check this one out. Watch him at about 4:10 second when he just starts singing syllables in effort to lay down the melody. I would listen to the "Gibberish" as is. I can't wait for this one to drop.

Coincidence?
I was on my typical daily morning commute this morning. Just trying to soak in the morning as best I could--considering the sun was blazing and my brow was glistening. I'd been jamming to an indiscriminate mix of tracks (my mp3 player on random) and I passed Hurt Plaza, I realized I was listening to "Damaged".
Ha.
perfect way to start the day.

KW tablets.
This is a funny ad.
Sad part is, I could probably make a killing selling these tablets.
Strictly adhering to the number one pusha rule: don't sample your own ish.

Of course with any drug there are a slew of questions
that you need to ask yourself before you decide to take the KW tablets.
